ABOUT OUR CLINICAL TRAINING PROGRAM
Anka believes in providing services and support of the utmost quality and value. We believe care should be established on evidence-based best practices, innovative clinical research, responsible outcome measures, and above all, what is best for the individuals we serve. As a result, we have developed several clinical training programs to train pre-licensed and license-eligible mental health clinicians in community mental health and specialty community-based service settings. The development of clinicians supports Anka's goal to maximize community-based client services and eliminate the impact of behavioral health problems for all people.
The goal of each of our clinical training programs is to assist the trainee/intern/fellow to achieve the competency level expected at their current level of training and to prepare them for either more advanced training or licensure. From Anka's perspective, the achievement of competency means more than theoretical or interventional knowledge. It means that the individual has acquired an appreciation and respect for diversity in our society, an understanding of how stigmatization and prejudice manifest and affect the individual and society, and how all of this impacts treatment.
Anka’s Pre-Doctoral Internship Program is accredited by the California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC) and the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). The Post-Doctoral Fellowship is also accredited by CAPIC.

TRAINING PROGRAMS
Practicum Training ProgramsAnka offers practicum placements for psychology students at all levels of their graduate school training. Students learn how to facilitate groups, provide case management and individual therapy, and perform supervised treatment services that aide them in gaining real world clinical experience within a variety of different program settings to multiple populations in need. Students work 8-20 hours per week and their training and duties grow with each practicum year. This also includes the ethnographic training program where students can observe their own cultural biases and norms and learn about other cultural groups.

I trained at several Anka sites. The high quality of supervision and didactic training, the positive teamwork among all members of the treatment teams, and the variety of settings available made it especially valuable. I gained a deep appreciation for the struggles of clients who are incarcerated, homeless, and/or addicted to drugs and alcohol, and a level of comfort in working with them all.
